Events in July

During July I have a few new events and workshops to tell you about, so I thought I would write a blog post to bring you up to date.

I will be taking part in two new events with the arts charity Jelly in Reading. I joined Jelly as an Associate artist earlier this year, and I have really enjoyed being part of a local artist community. This July, Jelly are organising two new events to give you a chance to meet and work with the Associate Artists.

On Saturday 16th July I will be taking part in the Jelly artists shop which will be held in their studios on the 1st floor of Broad Street Mall in Reading.

It will be a chance for you to meet and buy from local Reading Artists and I will be there selling my original artworks, prints and cards, as well as doing live portraits on the day.

On Saturday 23rd July I will be hosting an Abstract Landscapes workshop as part of the Jelly Summer School at the Jelly studios in Broad Street Mall.

Over the course of two weeks a range of Jelly Associate Artists will be hosting various workshops across different disciplines, to give you an opportunity to try out lots of new skills.

In the morning of 23rd July you will have a chance to work with local printmaker Linda Newcombe who will be demonstrating monoprinting using found materials, and then working with stencils and a wider range of textures.

After a short lunch break, you will then be working with me to create lively abstract illustrations of landscapes using watercolours, pastels, pencils and pens to create depth and textures.

In week two on 30th July you will be able to take a portrait painting class with local artist Caroline Streatfield, as well as further printmaking classes with Linda Newcombe.

Next week on Thursday 21st July I will be hosting a Carmen Miranda Fruit Headdress workshop teaching you how to make a fun fruity headdress inspired by the iconic outfits of Carmen Miranda, using my Fruit Headdress Kits. The kits also include a cute vintage headscarf to complete the look, and you’ll also have a yummy fruit cocktail to get you into the party spirit!

The class will be hosted at the lovely Creativ Spaces studios with the MadebyTamalia team in Caversham.
