Pet Portraits

If you’re looking for a unique gift for a loved one, why not commission me to create a custom pet portrait of their furry friend?

I create hand painted watercolour portraits in A5 or A4 sizes, and my turnaround time is 2-3 weeks. I use Winsor and Newton watercolour paints, and will add details with Daler - Rowney coloured pencils. I will work closely with you on your commission to make sure I capture the composition you prefer and the personality of your pet.

How It Works

Initial Sketches

I start every pet portrait with a series of pencil sketches, to try out compositions, and get a feel for your pets character.

Watercolour Sketches

When you have picked out your favourite composition, I will do a watercolour sketch to check the colours and details that I will use in the final portrait.

Final Watercolour Portrait

Once we’ve decided on the final composition and you’re happy with the detail and expression, I will move onto creating the final portrait in watercolour, with details added in pencil.

Testimonials from my customers…

Western

Western

“I was delighted with the pet portrait Helen did of my son’s pet black labrador called Western. I appreciated her care and attention when she asked for as much information on and characteristics of dear Western, including photos and you also sent through some provisional sketches to give me an idea of what to expect and made the whole process so personal. We are all delighted with the final result!”

— Susan

Lassie

“We commissioned Helen to paint a portrait of Lassie, our beloved Collie, as we knew we didn’t have long together.

Helen was superb in helping us get the right pose for Lassie, and making sure that we were happy with the final decision.

We are so pleased with the result. Helen has captured the very nature of Lassie, who we lost sadly before the portrait was delivered.

I just keep looking, expecting her to walk out of it.

We are so thrilled with the portrait and Helen’s patience in our dithering over which final pose to choose. Helen has a real talent and skill at lifting the things that you love in your pet and bringing them out.”

Bella

'“Helen really captures the personality of the dogs she's illustrating and in a unique and cheeky style that brings them to life. We've loved giving vouchers for her portraits as gifts to friends and family because we know she will make them feel special and create a bespoke portrait that they can treasure. I recommend her whenever I have the opportunity.”
